Challenge yourself with an adventurous walk and camel trek through the Sahara Desert. Trek to the ruins of Sidi el Reg Bousnina via Arada. Pass the village of Ait Ounabgui to the Erg Smar and Erg Ezzahar. The vast landscape will inspire you and teach you about the lives of the nomads of the desert.
Accommodations for tours that include time in the desert can be customized to fill your needs. Upgrades can include a private ensuite bathroom, additional amenities including alcoholic beverages, and more luxurious appointments. Private camps for your group only can also be arranged. Please let us know what comforts you desire and we will chose the best desert accommodations to meet those needs.
Day 1: Ouarzazate to M’Hamid Bivouac
Departing from your hotel or riad in Ouarzazate, we will travel with a 4×4 to M’hamid, a small oasis town on the edge of the desert. We drive through the Tizi-n-Tinfifte, and the village Agdz. Then we continue our journey to Tamnougalt, a scenic route of villages, palm trees and the river of the Draa Valley.
Once we arrive in Zagora we take our lunch there. After lunch we continue our journey to M’hamid, the last village along the Draa River. Arriving in M`Hamid, we are greeted by the host and the camels for our journey. We ride on the camel to the desert bivouac between amidst the sand dunes where you can enjoy the sunset, dinner and campfire.
Day 2: M’Hamid to Reg el – Arada The Ruins of Sidi Bousnina
After we have introduced to your team of camels and guides, we begin the trek on foot or camel to the ruins of Sidi el Reg Bousnina via Arada. After a picnic lunch we will continue traveling to the ruins of Sidi Bousnina, where we will set up our camp for the night.
Day 3: The Ruins of Sidi Bousnina to Erg Ezzahar
After sunrise we will continue on to the dunes of Erg Ezzahar. Furthermore, we will stop for lunch on the way to the sand dunes where we arrive late afternoon. You have the early evening to relax on of Erg Ezzahar, enjoying the sunset and dinner.
Day 4: Erg Ezzahar to Erg Smar
Waking at dawn, we will head towards Erg Smar. We will pass the village of Ait Ounabgui, stopping for lunch along the way. Dinner and overnight in camp.
Day 5: Erg Smar to Erg Ait Ounir
In the morning we continue our journey through the desert with a picnic lunch. We arrive late in the afternoon in Erg Ait Ounir. Dinner and overnight in camp.
Day 6: Erg Ait Ounir to Rass Nikhill to M’Hamid
After breakfast, we lead the caravan back to the bivouac in M’Hamid, stopping for lunch along the way. Dinner and overnight in the bivouac of the Little Prince.
Day 7 : M’Hamid to Ouarzazate
In the morning, after breakfast we will visit the ancient village of M’Hamid. After visiting driving the old town with the 4×4 back to Ouarzazate. We stop, we visit the Koranic library at Tamgroute. From Zagora we continue our trip through the Draa Valley along the cap Tansikht you is to discover beautiful landscapes. We stop for lunch in Agdz continue our journey to Ouarzazate. We arrive late in the afternoon at your hotel in Ouarzazate.
