Description
Spend two nights like a nomad in the desert, complete with camel treks, sunset and sunrise over the dunes, visits to the old Kasbah of M’Hamid, and a picnic enroute to Erg Chegaga. No trip to Morocco is complete without a stay in the desert.
Day 1: Meet at the village of M’Hamid
Upon arriving on your own in M’Hamid, the host will greet you and let you know where you will leave your car the village. After you have secured your car, you will go by camel through the last palm of the Draa valley towards the sand dunes to the desert bivouac ’The Little Prince’. Arriving at the camp, you will watch the sunset over the dunes and enjoy dinner and music by the campfire.
Day 2: Day trip to the big sand dunes of Erg Chegaga
After breakfast, we return to the village M’hamid by camel and visit the old Kasbah of M’hamid. Then we will depart via the 4×4 through the big dunes to Erg Chegaga. Along the way, we will stop for a picnic in the desert. After visiting the sand dunes of Erg Chegaga, we drive back to the bivouac ”The Little Prince” to camp the second night in a nomad tent.
Day 3
After breakfast you will be returned to your vehicle to continue on to your next destination.
Accommodations for tours that include time in the desert can be customized to fill your needs. Upgrades can include a private ensuite bathroom, additional amenities including alcoholic beverages, and more luxurious appointments. Private camps for your group only can also be arranged. Please let us know what comforts you desire and we will chose the best desert accommodations to meet those needs.
Please note: if a long Camel trek and overnight stay in the camp is not for you, you can still enjoy the sunset in M’Hamid and Chegaga with a shorter camel trek or a walk and pass the night in the Bivac at the dune line.
