Leave the planning to us with this comprehensive 13 day trip from Marrakech to the Sahara. Shortened travel days make for a more relaxing journey, as we make our way from Marrakech through the Atlas Mountains, visiting gorges and waterfalls, taking in the ways of life throughout this region. Four nights in the desert are a highlight of this trip. Enjoy exploring the desert, camel trekking, sleeping under the stars or in a tent if you prefer.
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech
Reception at the airport and transfer to Hotel.
Day 2: Marrakech
After breakfast, tour Marrakech including the Medina, Jardin Majorelle, Palace Bahia
Day 3: Marrakech – Tizi n Tichka – Ouarzazate
After breakfast, leave Marrakech towards Ouarzazate, crossing the High Atlas through the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, several stops along the way allows you to enjoy the spectacular views of the valleys and Berber villages based on hills, after visiting the Berber villages meet the local Berber people, share their traditions and way of living continue towards Ouarzazate, stopping enroute at Ait Ben Haddou. Make a visit to Ouarzazate Cinema studios and discover the most beautiful old Kasbah in the Country; the Taourirt Kasbah, that was the main Glaoui residence, afterwards head to Riad Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight.
Day 4:Ouarzazate – Skoura – Kelaa Mgouna – Dades
After breakfast, head to Skoura to go for a walk around oasis; discover the area with a local guide, and enjoy the amazing views of the fertile oasis lined with immense Palm Groves. Then visit the most stunning old Kasbah in Skoura “Kasbah Ameridil” that was built in the 70th century for the caïd of Skoura. Afterwards drive to Kelaat M’gouna through the rose’s valley, and after the discovery of the beautiful city, Continue towards Boumalne Dades, across Road of the thousand Kasbahs, fascinating earthen buildings, and before reaching your Hotel visit of the gorges of Dades.
Day 5: Dades – Nkob – Zagoura- Tamgrout – Mhamid
Early departure to follow the longest road rout, through Tazarine, then N’Kob (Berber village). Lunch in Zagora, then drive to M’Hamid el Ghizlane. Stop Tamgroute to visit the Koranic library, traditional pottery and underground alleyways. Continue along the track through the palm grove of Ouled Brahim and the Reg Elfaija and continue to M’Hamid el Ghizlane, arrival at our bivouac Desert Bivouac, dinner, nomadic folklore and night in tents.
Day 6: Mhamid – Mhamid
Free Day in Mhamid, visit the center of Mhamid , and an old Kasbah Lunch with a local family (couscous course) the last stop before Desert.
Day 7: Mhamid – Chegaga
After breakfast, an hour’s ride on camel, then departure by 4×4 by a sandy track to the dunes of Chegaga, the largest in Morocco. Lunch in the shade of palm or tamarisk. Resumption of the track direction Chegaga. Arrival at the desert Bivouac Chegaga to attend an unforgettable sunset. Dinner and overnight in tents or under the stars. Accompanied by musicians and animation.
Day 8: Chegaga – Chegaga
One day more in Chegaga desert (300m to 500m altitude), biggest dunes in Morocco, visit the sacred oasis and nomads life.
Day 9: Chegaga – Iriki Lake – Foum Zguid – Taznakht – Ouarzazate
After breakfast we will take the road to Foum Zguid for lunch by IRIKI LAKE (dry lake), after lunch head to see the carpets city (Taznakht), chance to visit a feminin cooperative of carpets, then directly to Ouarzazate where you will have diner and night in a Riad.
Day 10: Ouarzazate- Marrakech
Breakfast in the Riad then we take the road to Marrakech by Tizi N Tichka colt, but before we will visit the Telouat Kasbah and Village, it’s the origin of the powerful man (El Glaoui), who run the south, night in your Riad in Marrakech.
Day 11: Day Trip 3 Valleys
Heading south of Marrakech onward the huge High Atlas mountains, then to the Ourika Valley. Stop at the Berber house for a morning refreshment, where we will get you closer to the Berber life by sharing the mint tea process experience. The Berber grandmother, the boss of the family Malika will make a fresh mint tea in front of you, to show you how the Berber mint tea is made. Visiting the house and enjoying the taste of Malika’s mint tea and fresh bread accompanied with a local home-made butter, honey, and olives oil.
Drive along the Ourika Valley to the extreme point, the village of Setti Fatma 1500 meters (4922 feet). The 3 Valleys Atlas day trip highlight : your mountain guide will take you up to see the 7 waterfalls for 1H 30min trekking. Have lunch by the river 3 main courses are included. After the lunch, we will drive up higher to 2000 meters (6500 feet) towards the village Sidi Fares. Good opportunity for photo lovers on those panoramic views over the Berber villages and the Atlas Mountains, as well as the famous Richard Branson’s Kasbah Hotel. You can bring some candies, pens or pads, there are many Berber children and they will love it.
Getting back to Marrakesh around 5 pm.
Day 12: Marrakech
Free day in Marrakech to be determined with guide and group.
Day 13: Marrakech – Aeroport
