Description
The 3-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Fes via the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga includes one night in the Sahara desert, a trek on a camel and the experience of the sunrise over the dunes of the Sahara. You will visit the Barbary Macacs in Azrou, take a sightseeing desert tour which includes a visit to nomads living in caves and the donkey market in Risani. Wander with a local guide in the Palmerie or hike in Dades Valley or Todra Gorges. Share a cup of tea with a Berber family.
Accommodations for tours that include time in the desert can be customized to fill your needs. Upgrades can include a private ensuite bathroom, additional amenities including alcoholic beverages, and more luxurious appointments. Private camps for your group only can also be arranged. Day 1: Marrakech – Ait benhadou – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades Gorge
Depart from Marrakech in the morning, crossing High Atlas mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka (2260m), to reach to Ait benhaddou village, the fortified ksar with beautiful Kasbahs. Ait Benhaddou has often been used as a location for film makers due to it’s historical architecture and grandeur. After lunch we will head to Dades Gorge via Ouarzazate, visit the palm grove of Skoura and the Valley of Roses, where we will spend the first night.
Day 2: Dades – Todra gorge – Risani – Merzouga
Depart after breakfast to visit Dades Gorge, taking the road of 1000 Kasbahs, taking in the colorful Berber villages of the Dades Valley. We arrive at Tineghir taking it it’s beautiful palm grove. We will continue to the Gorge of Todgha, where you will go on a trek along the canyons of about 300 m high, a favorite destination for mountain climbers. Afterwards we will head to Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga Sahara desert, stopping for lunch on our way. We will trek with camels for an overnight in the foothills of Erg Chebbi in the Sahara dunes.
Please note: If a long Camel trek and overnight stay in the camp is not for you, you can enjoy the sunset in Erg Chebbi with a shorter camel trek or a walk and spend the night in the hotel near the dunes. If the itineraries that we offer do not match what you are looking for, please contact us and we will prepare the trip to meet your needs.
Day 3: Merzouga – Errachida – Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes
Wake early and make your assent to watch the sunrise over the sand dunes. Pack-up the camels and trek back to the hotel, where you will shower and breakfast. Drive to Fez passing through Ziz Valley in Errachidia, Midelt. Stop for lunch in Midelt before we continuing to Azrou to see Barbary macaque and the majestic cedar forest. Afterwards we will continue to Fez via Ifrane. Our guide will make sure you reach
your chosen riad or hotel for your stay in Fes.
